Reserve Forestland

Windham County Forester Sam Schneski will give a talk about a new land use category in Vermont's Use Value Appraisal (UVA) program called "Reserve Forestland". This change will allow landowners, whose land is eligible, to develop old forest conditions (currently lacking in Vermont) on their property while participating in the UVA program. Reserve Forestland is forested land managed with a primary purpose of accrual and protection of old forest functions, values, and associated characteristics. The primary objective of UVA has been to keep Vermont’s agricultural and forest lands actively managed for forest and farm products, help slow the development of these lands, and achieve greater equity in property taxation on undeveloped land.
