Walk through pick up for “Take Out” books  – how it works:

Come to the open door at the Library’s main entrance. It is best to come alone or with as few people/children as possible.

Everyone, please!! Wear a mask. Not optional! No one without a mask may come inside.

Wait your turn outside. Wait in line 6′ apart.

To obtain books:

Enter one person at a time. Stand in front of the plexiglass in the designated area at the front desk.

Tell the volunteers what books you want to check out or just tell them what topics you like to read. They will quickly collect everything you want for you, and check out the books on the computer at the front desk.

As soon as you receive your books, leave quickly by the open side door.

Next person in line enters after the front desk counters and volunteers’ hands are all sanitized, and when the volunteer says “Next!” Please wait!

There will be no public access to bathroom,

children’s room, or barn.

Returning books:

Place return books in the bin provided by the entrance door during “Take Out” hours.

Or:  Place return books in the big book return mailbox on the porch at any time.

Used book donations are not being accepted at this time.

Please save your old books for the Library’s next big, blowout book binge! Thank you.

Additional Staff Resignations in addition to the resignation of Library Director Jill Dean

Nancy Dawson, Assistant Library Director

Update July 23, 2020  - An Announcement From the Library Trustees

It is with regret that the library trustees are announcing the resignation of Jill Dean as the library director of the Wardsboro Public Library effective August 3, 2020.

For many years Jill has provided library services to the community in a friendly and competent  manner.  She became a public figure and valuable resource in her role at the library and for that we are grateful.   She will be missed by many library patrons in the community. I'm sure Jill's decision to resign was a difficult one to make. We are in a challenging time with the Covid pandemic , therefore the library needs to be flexible and change in many ways we did not expect as we cope with this new environment.

We sincerely wish her success in whatever future endeavors she may pursue.

The trustees remain committed to our duty to provide library services in a safe and effective manner, and ensure  the best use of valuable and scarce town resources given to the library. In time, we want to reopen the library to patron visits, but we want to do it safely. In the meantime, we will continue to provide alternate services that we hope meet your needs.

We are currently looking for a temporary person who will continue to provide  curb-side service and help us  prepare the library for reopening until a permanent person is found to replace Jill.

Update April 7, 2020

The Wardsboro Public Library will continue to be closed until further notice due to the Coronavirus.

After careful consideration, the Board of Library Trustees has made this decision because it is our responsibility and our concern for the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and library patrons. We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause all of our library patrons and the community. We will re-open as soon as the governor's advice allows and when we feel it is safe to do so.

Our librarian, Jill, is working from home and will continue to answer questions by email, provide access to on-line library services and suggest available resources on the Internet. You can stay connected and enjoy all that the library can offer during this challenging time by checking our website regularly:, following us on Facebook, or emailing for the latest information and resources.

Please keep safe, follow the safety guidelines established by the CDC and the VT governor and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Wardsboro Public Library when we open again.
